For the past 70 years, immigration to Canada has continued growing[1]; however, the composition of this trend changed during the 1960s; the number of immigrants from Europe and the United States decreased while the presence of immigrants from other source areas started growing to the point that they were the majority of the foreign born population  in 2001.[2]

The increasing demographic presence of 'visible minorities' and foreign trained professionals demands equal access to employment opportunities, which let them play their occupational roles according to their qualifications and work experience, so they can contribute to the development of this country and enjoy the benefits of it.

Therefore, our objective is to provide an interdisciplinary and collaborative site, where the analysis and discussion about discrimination against highly skilled immigrants in the Canadian job market can articulate effective proposals to eliminate systemic  racism. [3]

Canadaimmigrants.com seeks to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with immigrants, researchers, policy makers, and all the people involved or interested in employment and  immigration in Canada.

Perspectives

Immigrants who had landed since 2001 (or very recent immigrants, those who landed in Canada 5 or less years prior to 2006) had the most difficulty in the labour market in 2006, followed by those who landed between 1996 and 2001.

Is it about bureaucratic problems or hidden intent?

Those responsible at the federal level of implementation of immigration policies argue that there is a large number of applications for permanent residence, which hinder the immigration system, if indeed this is a reality. What is that prevents or hinders processing such applications? What says, does or omits on the federal government so that there is such a backlog of applications for permanent residence? If it comes down to administrative inefficiency -as is clear from official statements-Why do we need immigration law?  This is going to solve the problem or is the means to close to foreigners the doors of Canada?

To all immigrants and potential immigrants:

Never forget that we have chosen Canada to have a better life. Ergo, do not underestimate the value of your qualifications. Ask for the 'right' job. By sacrificing our present, we are also sacrificing our children's present, and consequently... their future.
