Cost of living in Canada

Canadaimmigrants Home

Across Canada, the local cost of living varies dramatically. In cities such as Vancouver, "the cost of living can be expensive and you may require more than one wage-earner to have the standard of living you want" (Government of British Columbia, 2006). Get an idea of  what the cost of housing, taxes and household expenses are in Canadian cities.

Among the 82 major metropolitan markets (those with more than 1,000,000 population) considered by Demographia, six Canadian cities had severely unaffordable housing markets; Vancouver, B.C. (ranked at 3th place) after Hong Kong and Sydney, Australia; Victoria, B.C. (18th); Abbotsford (28th); Kelowna, B.C. (41th); Montreal (69th); and Toronto (75th).
